He was a Major in the Calvert county Militia and attained the rank of Colonel by 1752. He served in the Lower House of the Maryland Legislature from Calvert co, 1725-1727, 1728-1731, 1732-1734, 1734/5-1737. In Calvert co, he served as deputy commisary, 1716/17-1722; deputy surveyor 1734 to at least 1747. He died testate between 4 Sep and 20 Nov 1756.
