Son of Daniel and Hannah (TYLER) SKINNER, was born in Meigs Co, OH, August 23rd 1841. He died in Oak Hill, OH (of hardening of the arteries) Apr 21st 1921. My mother, Emily Giles DAVIS, daughter of Aaron and Ruth (VONSHRILTZ) DAVIS was born at Cora, OH, January 8th 1845. She died on Sept 2nd 1883 of Appendicitis. They were married on Dec 25th 1865. I spent the first ten years of my life with my parents near Cora, OH, on a farm. My father taught school most of that time. Then moved to West Virginia, on a farm for a short time. Then went to Gallipolis, where my father clerked in a hardware store. We lived just inside the city limits, went to city school, there was where I learned my multiplication tables.
