! E94.0809.07p Logan, Donna (4/91) family history 12109-A Old Frederick Rd, Thurmont, MD 21788: "Aunt Tude" Susannah was a school teacher all her life. After the death of their mother, Susannah and Eva were raised by Mrs Joseph Gadd. At the time of the census of 1856 she was with James Rush and his wife, Melinda Gadd. Mrs Rastenbach says Mrs Rush was not well and Susannah who was 13 yrs old lived with them for a time to help with the work. In the census of 1860 she was living with Eliz Gadd at Blakesburg, IA. She lived with the Gadd family and taught school 2 or 3 years at Boone, IA. In 1870 she was living with the George W Thomas family in Green twp, Wapello co, and was teaching school. Milton Thoams was a member of this family. Milton was not a very good worker and she continued to teach school after her marriage. He became an invalid in bed until his death. She was nicknamed "Trude" by the Gadd children and the name stuck to her through life. They are both buried in the Zion Cem, Green twp, Wapello co, IA.
