! E94.0626.09 SKU 11(4):69 Skinner, Alice

! E95.0501.10-16 SKU 12(2):46 Skinner, Alice Skinner Family by Timothy Lee Skinner: Almost next to the tombstone of Charles D., Matilda D., and Cornelius R. Skinner is the tombstone for Abram W. and Mary Skinner. According to History of LaSalle County, Illinois (Vol. 2 (1886), p. 11, A. Skinner served with two others as Commissioners of Highways in Adams Township. Leland ³66² A History of Leland, Illinois records that property for the Leland Cemetery was obtained from Abraham and Mary Skinner. In 1853 he opened the first general store in Leland, but lived only tow years more. Clarification in the relationship between Charles D. Skinner and the Abram W. Skinner who died in Leland in 1855 can now be made. The Skinner family Bible indicates that Charles D. Skinner was born in Lanesborough, Pennsylvania. Lanesboro (the current spelling) in in Susquehannah County in northeast Pennsylvania. The 1850 Federal Census-Illinois says that Abraham Skinner, age 44, was born in New York. As listed in Pennsylvania 1830 Census Index there were four Skinner heads of households in Susquehannah County. Abraham, Amos, and Israel lived in Great Bend Township, and Jacob in Harmony Township. In response to a letter request to Susquehanna County Historical Society & Free Library Association in Montrose, Pennsylvania, a copy of an article about Nathan Skinner was sent to me in Late November 1992. The two-page article came from a work entitled Commemorative Biographical Record, pp. 1796-97. It indicates that Abraham was the fourth of thirteen children of Jacob and Rhoda (McDowell) Skinner of Orange County, New York. It records that Abraham was born on his parentsı farm in Oakland Township, Susquehanna County, and not in New York as the above-mentioned Census indicated. Abraham married Mary Brush from Oakland, moved t Illinois, and left two children as survivors, namely Charles and Sarah H.

! SKU 16(3)65 Beers. (1900.) Commemorative Biographical Record Of Northeast Pennsylvania Including The Counties Of Susquehanna, Wayne, Pike, And Monroe. Born on the home farm in Oakland township, Susquehanna county, in 1806, married Mary Brush, a representative of one of Oakland township's old families, and also moved to Illinois, locating on the Fox river, where he spent the remainder of his life. He left two children--Charles and Sarah J.
