! E95.0501.10-16 SKU 12(2):46 Skinner, Alice Skinner Family by Timothy Lee Skinner: My research began with brief information about S. B. and Cornelius R. Skinner. The tombstone inscription in the cemetery just north of Leland reveals that Cornelius R. Skinner was the infant son of Charles D. and Matilda D. Skinner, being fourteen months old at the time of his death. He was the next to last child of Charles and Matilda, assuming no other children died after him. The 1870 Federal Census-Illinois reveals the names and ages of the children and youth under the care of Matilda Skinner to be Abraham E. (19), Joannah (17), Mary (15), Sarah J. (12), S.B. (10), and Etta (5). Administrators Record B April 1860 to September 1867 LaSalle County (held by Regional History Center, Northern Illinois University) indicates from the LaSalle County Court in Probate, September 7, 1867, that upon the death of Charles D. Skinner on August 17, 1867, Matilda obtained administrative rights to the estate. Also listed there as children under her care were Abram E., Joanna, Mary Caroline, Sarah Jane, S.B., and Etta M.
