Manuscript: Descendants of Peter and Sarah (Roberts) Skinner, Loudon County, Virgina, of Richard and Adeline (Van Deventer) Skinner of Cornelius Skinner by Doris Seymour Wahl, date unknown.: Made his home (1921) RFD Trenton, MO Contemporary Records: Newspaper clipping: Prominent Grundy County Farmer passed away Tuesday - (Nov 15) 1921 John R Skinner, a prominent Grundy co farmer, passed away Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at his home six miles south of Trenton. His death followed a three week's illness with dropsy and a complication of diseases. Mr Skinner was b in St Charles co, MO, Aug 28, 1848. He had lived in Grundy county for many years and was well known. He leaves a wife, formerly Miss Elizabeth Slonecker, and five children. Henry of Oklahoma; Chas. of Trenton, Mrs Andrew Merryman, Montana, Mrs. Fred Kisel, Jackson township, and Miss Lydia Skinner. He also leaves two brothers, Judge James Skinner of Trenton and Lemuel Skinner, Fullerton, CO; and a sister, Mrs Margaret Smith of Lee's Summitt, MO. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made, awaiting arrival of relatives from a distance. Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Skinner Church - burial in the Skinner cemetery. E89.0304.38 Martin SKU 8(1):18
