Probably married first Martha ____, Darlington Co., S.C.
Second marriage to Talitha ____, according to to 1900 Clay Co., Miss.
US census records, Talitha and Ira Pipkin Beasley had been married 67
years. In 1900, there were two single children living with them.
Fetus D. Beasley, age45,b. Miss; Maria A. age 54, b. S C; Total 4 ch;2,died.
Need letter written by Edgar Malone Pipkin to his cousin Ira Pipkin
Beasley which is in the Barker Library, Univ. of Texas in Mrs. Lucy Price's
collection recently donated by her family. As of this date it has not been
possible to obtain the actual records including this letter. Rev. Edgar
Malone Pipkin is a descendent of Rev. Daniel Pipkin of N.C. who was
brother to Rev. Stephen Pipkin, Sr. therefore this letter would further
serve to prove lineage of both families.
Recent document obtained by compiler from :Bearhouse Lodge No. 209,
Maconic Lodge of Hamburg, Ark. gives dates of meetings 1881 and 1882.
In this doc- ument there is an account of E. M. Pipkin being present from
Batesville, Ark. to preach at the funeral of my gt gr f.: Francis Rogers.
who d.30
Oct 1882 . The members of the lodge included Wm Henry Rogers, son of
Francis Rogers, dec'd that day; Cornelius Nathan Perstell Grantham, my
gt gr f., whose dau , Amanda Jane Grantham, was wife of Wm. Henry
Rogers.
Also present were Wm.Beasley and A. E. Beasley, probably related to
Nancy Beasley Rogers, recent widow of Francis Rogers.
The funeral march began at the Bearhouse Church in Hamburg and
proceeded to the residence of widow Nancy Beasley Rogers; thence, they
marched to the Rogers Cemetery, nearby, carrying the casket and
proceeded with the funeral, with full Masonic honors. The compiler has
been to this cemetery several times and at present it is being cared for
by my cousin, Miss Jayne Rogers and by my family. One of the
descendants,
Mr. Raymond Grantham, a young man who lives in Portland, Ark is helping
by clearing the land of weeds. A fence has been installed and Miss Jayne
Rogers has the deed to the cemetery land. It is called the Rogers
Cemetery; and , many Granthams are buried there , also.
I have been informed by a present member of the lodge that occasionally
members go to the cemetery to check on it and to straighten some of the
markers. Our family is most appreciative of their efforts.
This new data re: Rev. Edgar Malone Pipkin, whose church was in
Batesville, Ark. seems proof enough that Nancy Beasley Rogers and Edgar
Malone Pipkin were related, since Edgar descends from Lewis Pipkin,
sister of
Suzanne Pipkin who m. John Beasley, Jr. of Darlington. The compiler has
the lineage of Edgar Malone Pipkin documented . Refer to Pipkin file.
Ira Pipkin Beasley and Talitha________ are in 1900 census,Beat 5, La
Cross Precinct, Clay Co., Miss. He was listed as being b. in N C;
she was listed as being b. in S C. They had total of 4 children with
2 living at home with them in 1900. Son, Fetus Beasley,b. Nov. 1854; dau,
Maria A., b. 1846, ages 45 and 54 . There may be several spellings
of " Fetus", such as ""Finis" or "Fretis". This is the 1st record
showing that Ira Pipkin Beasley was born in N. C. If true, this may
indicate that both John Beasley, Jr and John Beasley, Sr were older
than the compiler thought; thus, making it more plausible to con-
sider the possibility that this family is the same as the Solomon
Beasley of Craven Co, N C , will of 1791 with son John and a John
Beasley named as owning land adjoining Solomom Beasley.
